About Citro Cello

Monique started the cello at the age of 10 in her hometown of Underhill, Vermont. She studied privately with Jeanne Bateman until her graduation from high school in 1985. With Jeanne's loving guidance, Monique was a member of several Vermont All State Orchestras and All New England Orchestras; The Vermont Youth Orchestra; and had the distinct honor of playing in the Youth of America Orchestra that toured Europe in 1984. In 1983, Monique played her cello in the film titled "I Am The Cheese" starring Robert MacNaughton, Hope Lange, Don Murray, and Robert Wagner, which was filmed in various locations throughout Vermont. Monique went on to college always keeping her cello closely by her side. She started to play public and private engagements with the Vermont String Trio and the University of Vermont Orchestra. She moved to Denver Colorado in 1993 and had the chance to play for 30,000 people at Denver's International Children's Day. A request from a close friend to play her cello for her wedding was the beginning of hundreds of weddings that Monique would perform all over the United States. Today, Monique continues to play as many as 20 weddings a year.

She has also started to do some recording work in the studio with various local artists. She has worked with celtic singer and songwriter Susan Hamlin; Phil and Carol Abair on Carol's song titled "My Only Son"; with Gregory Douglass on his albums "Battler" and "Lucid"; and Francesca Blachard's EP "Songs On An Ovation".

Monique lives in Essex Jct with her 16 year old daughter Sadie, who is a cellist in the making also! Monique works for Fletcher Allen Health Care in the Operating Room as an Equipment Specialist.
